Sunset Yacht Cruise Miami — Skyline + Golden Hour
The sun sets behind the skyline in Miami, which means yachts on Biscayne Bay get the best seat in the house — backlit downtown silhouettes, palm tones on the water, and a 30-minute window where the whole bay turns gold then pink. We time your departure to your exact sunset (5:28 PM in early December, 8:15 PM in late June).
Perfect for couples, proposals, small celebrations, and post-dinner cruises. 2–3 hour charters from $680 for the whole boat (up to 13 guests = ~$52/person).
Sunset essentials
- Direction: Sun sets WEST, behind downtown — yacht gets unobstructed view.
- Cloudy night? Often the BEST sunset (vivid color). We don't cancel for clouds.
- Timing: Board 60–90 min before sunset for the cruise + golden hour.
- What to wear: Light layer Nov–Mar; flat shoes always.
- Proposals: Coordinator handles rose petals, champagne, photographer cue.
Yacht Rental Miami Beach — Marina, Routes & Star Island
Every charter departs from our marina at 300 Alton Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Free on-site parking, a 5-minute Uber from South Beach, and direct access to Biscayne Bay. From the dock you're 12 minutes to Star Island, 25 minutes to the Nixon Sandbar, and 35 minutes to Fisher Island Pass — all without crossing open ocean.
- 🛥️ Star Island cruise — celebrity homes (Diddy, Shakira, Gloria Estefan)
- 🏖️ Nixon Sandbar — shallow turquoise water, anchor & swim
- 🌆 Downtown skyline — best at golden hour
- 🐠 Fisher Island Pass — calm waters and great for kids
Yacht Clubs in Miami — Membership vs. Private Charter
A yacht club is a membership organization (initiation $500–$250,000+, plus annual dues) for ongoing access to a marina, clubhouse, racing programs, and social calendar. A private charter is a one-time experience — captain, fuel, water toys, and zero commitment included for one fixed price. Here are the most-asked-about Miami yacht clubs:
Biscayne Bay Yacht Club
Est. 1887 — historic, members-only
Miami Yacht Club
BBYRA racing, $500–$3,300 init.
Coconut Grove Sailing Club
Affordable, sailing lessons open to public
Coral Reef Yacht Club
BBYRA racing, Coconut Grove location
Key Biscayne Yacht Club
BBYRA racing, family-focused
Fisher Island Club
Ultra-private, ~$250K initiation
Shake-A-Leg Miami
Nonprofit; adaptive sailing open to public
Ocean Reef Club
Private island, Key Largo, full-service
BBYRA = Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Association, the five clubs that anchor Miami's competitive sailing calendar. Want to skip membership entirely? Charter a yacht for the day instead.
Miami Yacht Rental Guide — Insider Tips From 2,500+ Charters
The condensed version of everything we've learned hosting 2,500+ Miami yacht charters. If you read nothing else before booking, read this.
Pick the right yacht
Match yacht size to group: 6–10 → Sport Cruiser, 11–13 → Luxury or Catamaran, 14+ → multi-yacht. Bigger is not always better for tight groups.
BYOB the right way
Bring beer, seltzers, white/rosé, champagne, liquor + mixers. Skip red wine, glass bottles, glitter, and helium balloons (illegal under MARPOL).
Time it for sunset
The bay is best 90 min before sunset. Departure time should put you anchored at the sandbar 30–60 min before golden hour for the best photos.
Tip the captain
Industry standard is 15–20% of the charter price, in cash if possible. Goes directly to your captain and crew.
Weather promise
We reschedule for free if conditions are unsafe (lightning, sustained 20+ mph winds). We do NOT cancel for cloudy skies — those often produce the best sunset photos.
Booking lead time
Peak-season Saturdays: 2–4 weeks ahead. Weekday or summer: 3–7 days. Multi-yacht groups: 3–4 weeks. Holiday weekends: 1–2 months.
