After 2,500+ charters we've learned what actually makes a Miami yacht day great — and what trips groups up. Here's the short version, plus answers to the questions we hear most.

6 Tips Before You Book

Pick the right yacht

Match size to group: 6–10 → sport cruiser, 11–13 → luxury yacht or catamaran, 14+ → multi-yacht. Bigger isn't always better for tight groups.

BYOB the right way

Bring beer, seltzers, white/rosé, champagne, liquor + mixers. Skip red wine, glass bottles, glitter, and helium balloons (illegal under MARPOL).

Time it for sunset

The bay is best 90 minutes before sunset. Aim to be anchored at the sandbar 30–60 minutes before golden hour for the best photos.

Tip the captain

Industry standard is 15–20% of the charter price, in cash if possible. It goes directly to your captain and crew.

Know the weather promise

We reschedule for free if conditions are unsafe (lightning, sustained 20+ mph winds). We don't cancel for cloudy skies — those often make the best sunsets.

Book with enough lead time

Peak Saturdays: 2–4 weeks. Weekday/summer: 3–7 days. Multi-yacht: 3–4 weeks. Holiday weekends: 1–2 months.

Where Miami Charters Go

Most groups build their day around three spots: Star Island for celebrity-mansion cruising, the Nixon Sandbar for anchoring and swimming, and the downtown skyline for golden-hour photos. The Fisher Island Pass offers calm water that's great for kids.
